A couple who gambled in Macau while their three children were left to starve at home were placed on 12 months' probation for child neglect.
The children, aged 20 months to nine years, were found by social workers after two of them failed to attend classes in September.

A 51-year-old mainlander jumped off a 13-deck "floating casino" off Sai Kung after losing HK$5 million playing baccarat.
The gambler, identified by police only as Xu, made his fatal leap off the Star Cruises vessel SuperStar Aquarius as it sailed back to Hong Kong from international waters shortly before 9am yesterday.

Rescuers searched for Xu for almost an hour before fishing him out of the water. He was certified dead by the ship's doctor.

An official has reportedly been detained after allegedly accepting bribes so he could pay for sex and pursue a plan to sleep with up to 800 women.

[B]The number of reported HIV cases hit its lowest point in six years last year but those who got the virus from gay sex continue to show a worrying rise[/B], the Centre for Health Protection said yesterday.
A total of 396 cases were reported last year compared with the record of 435 hit in 2008.
